THE ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH DRIVERS
IN SCOTLAND
BACK TO THE NATIONAL ABD WEBSITE MISSION STATEMENT
The ABD in Scotland is one of many geographical areas of the ABD - albeit the largest one - and is no different in that it also adheres to the basic Objectives of the Association. These may be found under "Aims and objectives of the ABD" on the National Website, www.abd.org.uk, and can be summarised thus:-
- To represent the interests of all drivers and vehicle users
- To support better vehicle design and safety
- To support better vehicle efficiency
- To support better driver training
- To monitor road construction and maintenance
- To monitor road traffic legislation, enforcement and penalties
Naturally, Scotland has it's own special problems, and these range from the consequences of years of poor Highway Engineering and insufficient funding, in spite of the many £billions in taxation taken over the piece, to lunatic ideas such as trams and Congestion Charging in the Capital. To deal with these problems new policies, which include taking our message to the Members of the Scottish Parliament, have been agreed and will be unveiled in 2004.
