ABERDEEN BUS LANE "U"-TURN
I welcome the common-sense decision to open up the current 24-hour bus lanes to motorists outside peak hours.
However, to justify the shamefully expensive £0.5m bus lane camera scheme, bus lanes should be opened up permanently to car-sharing drivers. After all, what's the difference between car sharers and passenger carrying taxis?
If the CCTV technology to be used cannot be adapted to enable the operation of a more flexible bus lane system, to genuinely reduce congestion for all, then the camera scheme must be abandoned.
