THE ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH DRIVERS

IN SCOTLAND

The A947 ABERDEEN/BANFF ROAD

I regularly travel on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road and agree with Insp Ian Wallace (EE, Dec 19) that the road shouldn't automatically be labelled as 'bad' due to its accident history. However, making decent progress along this road is an issue. Careless, irresponsible overtaking is often a result of the frustration caused by selfish drivers travelling at speeds significantly below the limit. Also, agricultural vehicles and lorries sometimes refuse to pull over to let long queues of traffic past. Perhaps such inconsiderate behaviour should receive the attention of the police. Plus, am I alone in noticing the vast number of motorists across Grampian who are driving with only one headlight working properly? Surely visibility is key, especially on twisty, largely unlit roads such as the A947.
